Privacy

What this site actually collects, why and for how long. No trackers, no third-party analytics, no external resources.

1. Subscribing to updates

When you request a subscription on the Follow page, we store:

  • the email address;
  • the language chosen for updates (Portuguese or English);
  • the consent text ticked in the form and the date it was given;
  • the IP address at the moment of consent;
  • the confirmation and unsubscribe tokens, stored only as hashes. The plain token travels only in the email link.

Subscription works in two steps: the request triggers an email with a confirmation link, and only after confirmation does the address start receiving notifications. Opening the link confirms nothing; confirmation happens when you click the button on the page.

Every email sent to subscribers includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing is immediate and requires no justification.

Unconfirmed requests expire after 48 hours and are removed from the database after 30 days.

These data are used only to send publication notices in the chosen language. They are not sold, shared or used for any other purpose.

2. Contributions to the research

The contribution form stores the name (optional), the email, the subject, the message, the IP address and the browser identification (user-agent).

These records are available only to the team, for reading and an eventual reply. Nothing is published automatically and no message becomes a public comment.

3. Technical server logs

Like any web server, this site records the IP address, the requested URL and the user-agent of each request in technical logs. These logs exist for security and fault diagnosis and are kept for a limited time.

4. Cookies

  • ofm_locale: stores the language preference (pt or en) for up to 1 year, so that the root address opens in the right language. It does not identify a person.
  • ofm_session: a session cookie used only in the administration area, by the team that edits the content. Visitors to the public site never receive this cookie.

There are no advertising or third-party cookies.

5. No trackers

We use no third-party analytics, pixels, trackers or social media buttons. Fonts, scripts, stylesheets and images are served by the site itself; no resource is loaded from a CDN or an external domain.

6. Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the data associated with your email (subscription and contributions). To do so, use the contribution form, indicating the address in question. To stop receiving emails, the unsubscribe link in every message is enough.

7. Contact

The contact channel is the form on the Follow page. We do not publish personal email addresses on this site.

8. Version of this policy

This version applies from 21 September 2026. Relevant changes will be recorded here with a new date.
